Yes, you heard that right. Im a Tim Ho Wan convert now. Blame it to the weather. its when the day turns gloomy, and you just feel like too lazy to get up from your bed, wish that you could just get yourself a dimsum fix in one click, kind of day. hayyyy...i may have dreamed of munching on those bbq buns!
Ever since I was a child, dimsums were my least favorite. Eto rin yung mga panahon na pwede pa kami mauto at magpauto para sumama sa Uniwide and after grocery, sa gitna ng maraming restaurant choices including Chinese, Japanese, restaurants and we would always choose to eat at PizzaHut or fill ourselves with Chicken Spag Meal to the nearest "bee place" magpakabusog and shout i love you Sabado!. at syempre, kuntento na kmi dun.
tsk! tsk! tsk,!, obviously I belong to the 90's genre!
And now that Im based here in Singapore, I've finally learn to love the chopsticks. Of the many hawker centers I've been, to some chinese restaurants & hotel buffets, we've tried, I must say that Tim Ho Wan is one of the place to be. It is not just your ordinary Char Siew Pau and Siew Mai delight, but mouthwatering, to die for, and 1-hour-worth-queuing for kind of Chinese food.
Now, Im sorry dear readers, I may be good in foodtography but not good in rating it, so let these pictures make you crave for now and to know more about THW, just click here.

here with Miakka, her first time. At THW the space is a bit small, but they can squeeze in a baby chair for some mommies planning to bring their kiddos while enjoying with friends and colleagues. |
they have plastic plates, fork and spoon too. |
Bryan and Myla tried their Rice with chicken, sausage and mushroom. |
Pork Rib with black bean sauce. not too spicy |
Vermicelli Roll with Beef |
Springroll with eggwhite - a must try! |
and their best seller, star of the resto: Baked Bun with BBQ Pork. 5/5 Stars! |
i wonder how the bun is made, the crumbs are just so soft, melts in your mouth leaving a not so sweet taste. |
then followed by a BBQ pork with sweet and sour sauce.
I tell you, the deadly "sweet and sour anything else" combi is great especially "those days". right ladies? |
another personal favorite: Shrimp dumplings. (not allergic to seafood anymore) |
Their Pork Dumpling with Shrimp awakens my taste buds too. not your ordinary siomai in the supermarkets. |
Steamed Egg Cake : ever tasted a "puto" thats just melts into your mouth with the aroma of a chocolate + butter + egg combined? perfect for desserts and high tea! |
Buns are limited to 3 per pax. BTW,Hint: Children are considered in the number of pax too! :) in case you are becoming a Baked Buns monster, bring your 2yo brother or even your toddler and beg his 2 last buns. hehehe
Tim Ho Wan is one of the cheapest Michelin Star dimsum restaurant in Hong Kong, which opened in Singapore by Chef Mak Kwai Pui. They are expected to open their outlets in the next quarter of the year which includes Toa Payoh Central, few tumblings from where I work! Oh I am so excited!
